The original film version of the Hecht/MacArthur stage classic is a fast-paced and witty commentary on the newspaper business. When a convicted murderer escapes execution, investigative reporter Hildy Johnson (Pat O'Brien) and his editor, Walter Burns (Adolphe Menjou), hatch a wacky plot to hide him in a rolltop desk in their press room in an effort to get the exclusive scoop on his story. Mary Brian, Edward Everett Horton, Walter Catlett, George E. Stone also star. 103 min. Standard; Soundtrack: English Dolby Digital mono; audio commentary; featurette; radio plays.
