A young pacifist (Fredric Lehne) in the 1940s South is branded a coward for refusing to join the Army. When his girlfriend is raped, he faces a profoundly difficult choice: to keep the promise he made to his dying father, or to fight in defense of his beloved's honor. Based on the hit Kenny Rogers song, "Coward of the County" (1981) also stars Rogers, Ana Alicia. Then, when a trip to San Francisco for a high-stakes poker game is interrupted by train robbers who take his son hostage, card sharp Brady Hawkes (Rogers) and pal Billy Montana (Bruce Boxleitner) team up with a beautiful bounty hunter (Linda Evans) to track the outlaws down, in "Kenny Rogers as the Gambler: The Adventure Continues" (1983). And there's more scrapes and scraps on the frontier for Hawkes (Rogers) and Montana (Boxleitner), in "Kenny Rogers as the Gambler, Part III: The Legend Continues" (1987), as they help mediate a treaty between the government and the Sioux Indians with their friend "Buffalo Bill" Cody. Linda Gray, George Kennedy, Jeffrey Jones co-star. Three-disc set also includes "Kenny Rogers as the Gambler." 9 1/2 hrs. total. Standard; Soundtrack: English.
