When famed British actor David Garrick (Brian Aherne)--with enormous talent, and an ego to match--insults the members of a French theatrical troupe, they decide to make his life miserable by posing as the staff and guests of the inn where he’s staying. Onto the ruse, Garrick rebuffs a beautiful young countess (Olivia de Havilland) he assumes is an actress, only to learn that she’s the real deal and has genuine feelings for him. With Edward Everett Horton, Lionel Atwill, and Lana Turner in an early role. 89 min. Standard; Soundtrack: English Dolby Digital mono.
