The Haunting Of Hill House (2019)
In 1992, Olivia and Hugh Crain (Carla Gugino, Henry Thomas) moved with their five kids into an old manse with a shadowy reputation, looking to refurbish and flip it. The unsettling rumors about the abode proved to be horrifyingly true--and the spectres of their trauma would go on to pursue the Crain children into the present day. Chilling supernatural miniseries from creator/director Mike Flanagan, inspired by the Shirley Jackson novel, co-stars Michael Huisman, Elizabeth Reaser, Kate Siegel, and Timothy Hutton. 10 episodes on 4 DVDs or 3 Blu-rays. 9 1/2 hrs. C
The Haunting Of Bly Manor (2020)
In the late '80s, troubled American Dani Clayton (Victoria Pedretti) accepted the offer of Britisher Henry Wingrave (Henry Thomas) to become an au pair for his orphaned--and odd--nephew and niece (Benjamin Evan Ainsworth, Amelie Bea Smith) at the family manse. The strange phenomena she encounters will impact through another generation, as creator/director Mike Flanagan turns to Henry James' "Turn of the Screw" as a basis for another creepy miniseries. Carla Gugino, Oliver Jackson-Cohen, Rahul Kohli also star. 8 1/4 hrs. C
