The Little Princess is an American drama directed by Walter Lang and starring Shirley Temple and Richard Greene. It was the first Shirley Temple movie to be filmed in Technicolor and her last major success as a child star. Captain Crewe (Ian Hunter) is called to fight in the Second Boer War and has to leave his daughter Sara (Shirley Temple) at Miss Minchin's School for Girls. Sara discovers later that her father has died in the war and though she was once a rich, young lady she is now reduced to working as a servant at the school. Sara gains new solace in a friendship with Ram Dass (Cesar Romero), another servant. In her new role as servant, Sara gets hungrier and more tired from her arduous duties and sneaks off to verterans' hospitals convinced that her father is not dead. She then gets into a fight and is confined to the school's attic Escaping from the attic, Sara runs to the nearest hospital where a newly arrived unknown patient repeatedly says, 'Sara', 'Sara; and discovers that it is her father... Queen Victoria is visiting the hospital at the time and Sara interrupts her visit. Queen Victoria is not dissuaded and smiles at Sara on her way out. (92 minutes - 1939 - Color - 4:3)
