The 16th-century Japan of Kurosawa’s "Seven Samurai" is transposed to the American Old West in this classic crowd favorite directed by John Sturges. Yul Brynner stars as gunslinger Chris Adams, who, at the request of beleaguered Mexican peasants, recruits and trains a band of fellow mercenaries (including Steve McQueen, Charles Bronson, James Coburn, and Robert Vaughn) to defend their town from the repeated raids of bandit Calvera (Eli Wallach) and his horde. With Brad Dexter, Horst Buchholz. 128 min. Widescreen (Enhanced); Soundtracks: English Dolby Digital 5.1, Dolby Digital mono, Spanish Dolby Digital mono; Subtitles: English, Spanish, French; audio commentary by Wallach, Coburn, others; "making of" documentary; theatrical trailers; photo gallery.
