Oh, God! (1977)
Carl Reiner directs this delightful and sensitive comedy based on Avery Corman’s novel about God appearing to an ordinary man to spread the message that He cares. A scene-stealing George Burns stars as God, who selects unassuming, good-natured grocery store assistant manager Jerry Landers (John Denver) to be his modern-day prophet. Facing much skepticism, can Jerry convince the world that he’s really working for the man upstairs? With Teri Garr, Donald Pleasence. 98 min. C/Rtg: PG
Oh, God! Book II (1980)
George Burns returns as the Almighty in this touching sequel to the original hit comedy. This time, God picks 11-year-old Tracy Richards (Louanne Sirota) as the giver of His message. Tracy comes up with the slogan "Think God" as a way to get the word out but is met with the disapproval her divorced parents (Suzanne Pleshette and David Birney), who think their daughter’s gone nuts. John Louie, Conrad Janis also star. 94 min. C/Rtg: PG
Oh, God! You Devil (1984)
It’s double the fun with George Burns this time, as he plays both God and the Devil in the third and final entry in the popular comedy series. Struggling musician Bobby Shelton (Ted Wass) sells his soul to Satan in exchange for a successful career, and now the "man upstairs" may be the only one who can get him out of the deal. Roxanne Hart, Ron Silver, Eugene Roche co-star in this funny and touching story; written by Andrew Bergman ("Blazing Saddles"). 96 min. C/Rtg: PG
Widescreen; Soundtrack: English; Subtitles: English; audio commentary; interviews; theatrical trailers; radio spots; bonus "The Jack Benny Program" episode; more.
