The amazing amalgamation of action, stunts and comedy "Project A" (1983) stars Jackie Chan (who directed and co-wrote) as Dragon Ma, a disgraced naval policeman in early 1900s Hong Kong looking for redemption. He finds it when he teams with a city cop (Yuen Biao) and a shady sailor (Sammo Hung) to tackle ruthless pirates. In the follow-up "Project A: Part II" (1987), Chan returns as Ma, having been put in charge of a district police department. He'll have his hands full with the local mob that has most of his men bought and paid for, as well as the vengeance of the pirates he scuttled. Maggie Cheung, Rosamund Kwan co-star. 3 1/3 hrs. total.
