Classic soaper about Broadway showgirl Daisy Heath (Margaret Sullavan), who literally bumps into Army recruit Bill Pettigrew (James Stewart) about to be shipped overseas during World War I. After spending the day together touring the city, the smitten Bill asks Daisy to marry him, and she reluctantly agrees, despite the fact she loves wealthy boyfriend Sam Bailey (Walter Pidgeon). Third filming of Dana Burnet’s 1918 short story "Private Pettigrew's Girl" co-stars Hattie McDaniel, Nat Pendleton, and Alan Curtis. 85 min. Standard; Soundtrack: English Dolby Digital mono.
