Hunger is the "silent enemy" that stalked the Ojibway Indians of Canada’s Hudson Bay region in the 1700s, a period re-created with amazing accuracy by indigenous nonprofessional performers in this enlightening docudrama. As the starving tribe members attempt to survive in the frozen North, a power struggle between master hunter Baluk (Chief Buffalo Child Long Lance) and medicine man Dagwan (Chief Akawanush) unfolds and stunning revelations about life in the wilderness are evinced. With Chauncey Yellow Robe, Molly Spotted Elk. 82 min. Standard; Soundtrack: English.
