Hedy Lamarr is at her most beautiful and mysterious in this double feature. First, a young woman in early 19th-century New England marries a wealthy, older businessman, but finds herself drawn to a number of other men, including her stepson and her husband's right-hand man. Director Edgar G. Ulmer's "The Strange Woman" also stars George Sanders and Louis Hayward. by Edgar G. Ulmer. Next, "Dishonored Lady" finds Lamarr as a high-strung editor of a women's magazine who retires after a breakdown and falls for scientist Dennis O'Keefe. But when she's accused of killing ex-boyfriend John Loder (Lamarr's real-life spouse at the time), her racy past is brought to life. AKA: "Sins of Madeleine." 185 min. total. Standard; Soundtrack: English.
