The Terror (1963)
When "The Raven" finished shooting three days early, a thrifty Roger Corman used the cast and sets for this surprisingly effective chiller. Jack Nicholson plays Andre Duvalier, a lieutenant in Napoleon’s army who is haunted by a mysterious woman named Helene (Nicholson’s then-wife Sandra Knight) in mad Baron von Leppe’s (Boris Karloff) sinister castle. With the great Dick Miller, Jonathan Haze; features scenes from uncredited directors Francis Ford Coppola, Monte Hellman, Jack Hill, and Nicholson. 79 min. C/Rtg: NR
The Little Shop Of Horrors (1960)
Roger Corman’s shot-on-pennies quickie horror spoof became a cult classic and inspired a stage musical. Flower shop nebbish Jonathan Haze’s bloodthirsty plant makes him a celebrity, as long as he supplies it with fresh victims. With Jackie Joseph, Dick Miller, Mel Welles and a young Jack Nicholson as a masochistic dental patient. 72 min. BW/Rtg: NR
Widescreen; Soundtrack: English; featurettes; audio commentary; booklet.
