Itinerant cowhand Dave Blassingame (Brian Keith) roamed the Old Southwest with his big, friendly mutt Brown ("Old Yeller" himself, Spike), trying to scrape up a stake for his own spread, but more often scuttling his plans in order to help out folks in need.
