Steven Soderbergh won a Best Director Oscar for this sprawling look at the global narcotics trade, as seen through several personal dramas. Among them: a Mexican cop (Benicio Del Toro), caught between corrupt superiors and rival cartels; a dealer's wife (Catherine Zeta-Jones), whose life is shattered when her husband is arrested; two DEA agents (Don Cheadle, Luis Guzman); and the new federal "drug czar" (Michael Douglas), coping with his daughter's (Erika Christensen) addiction. 148 min. Widescreen; Soundtracks: English DTS HD 5.1 Master Audio, DTS HD stereo, French DTS 5.1; Subtitles: English (SDH), French, Spanish; featurette; deleted scenes.
