Legend has it that German philosopher Friedrich Nietzsche collapsed and never recovered after trying to shield a dray horse from a beating in Turin, Italy. In his final opus, director Bela Tarr delivered a visually sumptuous speculation on the ultimate fate of the horse and his master (János Derzsi), a rural farmer whose livelihood and life hinges on the aging and increasingly intransigent animal. Erika Bók co-stars. 143 min. Widescreen; Soundtrack: English Dolby Digital 5.1; Subtitles: English; audio commentary; short film "Hotel Magnezit" (1978); featurette; theatrical trailer. In Hungarian with English subtitles.
