Under African Skies
(2012)
For as popular as Paul Simon's "Graceland" became, the renowned folk artist faced controversy when he brought local South African artists into his circle for the recording of the 1986 album, sidestepping the U.N. boycott enacted to crush apartheid. Here, documentary filmmaker Joe Berlinger (co-director of "Metallica: Some Kind of Monster") recounts the production of Simon's famous work, accompanying him on a return trip to Africa a quarter-century after his first visit. 101 min. Widescreen (Enhanced); Soundtrack: English; interviews; music videos.
