Ralph Lamb, who served as the sheriff of Nevada's Clark County from 1961-79, was the inspiration for this short-lived drama series. Set in the '60s, the show focuses on a bitter power struggle that erupts between Sheriff Lamb (Dennis Quaid) and Vincent Savino (Michael Chiklis), a Chicago mobster who comes to Las Vegas intent on taking control of the city's enormously profitable gambling industry.
