The Forest Of The Wolf (1970)
As he eked out a living carrying his wares across Galicia, peddler Benito Freire (José Luis López Vázquez) was subject to sudden fugues...and would brutally kill anyone unfortunate enough to be in his proximity. While managing to cover up the carnage, his odd behavior and his victim's disappearances spark whispers of werewolfism. Shocker from Pedro Olea inspired by the Manuel Blanco Romasanta killings also stars Amparo Soler Leal, Antonio Casas, John Steiner, Nuria Torray. AKA: "The Ancines Woods," "El Bosque Del Lobo." 90 min. In Spanish with English subtitles. C/Rtg: NR
The Sky Is Falling (1975)
In a seaside Andalusian village, a colony of well-off American and British ex-pats were living out their dissolute existences amongst the locals in relative peace. That would change for the worse as a seemingly benign contingent of hippies moved into to town...and the pampered and privileged started becoming the victims of sadistic slayings. Silvio Narizzano's surrealistic shocker stars Dennis Hopper, Carroll Baker, Richard Todd, Faith Brook, Inma de Santis. AKA: "Bloodbath," "Las Flores Del Vicio." 90 min. Dubbed in English. C/Rtg: NR
Beatriz (1975)
A widowed contessa (Carmen Sevilla) opened her agrarian home to a mysterious friar (Jorge Rivero) after he singlehandedly dispatched a gang of attackers. After the noblewoman's lovely teenage daughter Beatriz (Sandra Mozarowsky) subsequently showed signs of possession, suspicious fingers pointed at the monk--but was he the one responsible? Gonzalo Suárez' eerie take on the prose of Ramón del Valle-Inclán also stars Nadiuska, José Sacristán, Elsa Zabala. 85 min. In Spanish with English subtitles. C/Rtg: NR
