Kim and Amy have been best friends since high school but they haven't seen each other since Amy moved to the west coast for grad school. They are reunited on a trip to Jay, Kim's boyfriend's lakeh house, joined by Jay himself, his step-brother Alex and Kim's cousin, Lin. When Amy left for the west coast, she was in love with Jay, even though she thought it'd never work out because she was fat. Now that things have changed, and they are all here, it's impossible for Amy to ignore how she still feels towards him. As the off-season beach vacation unfolds, these young people's struggle to find things to do in the small, empty beach town turns into the struggle to suppress resentment, jealousy and desires.
