The storied, if staged, broadcast sniping between columnist Walter Winchell and bandleader Ben Bernie served as the backdrop for this frothy yarn, as self-help expert Alice Huntley (Alice Faye) tries to help aspiring an singer (Jack Haley) conquer his mike fright. When his crooning inadvertently goes live on Bernie's show, a star is born-and a furious Winchell wants an exposé. Patsy Kelly, Ned Sparks co-star; songs include "There's a Lull in My Life" and the title tune. 91 min. Standard; Soundtrack: English Dolby Digital mono.
