In the fall of 1897, New York Sun editor Francis Church (Charles Bronson) was tasked with responding to a letter from 8-year-old Virginia O’Hanlon (Katharine Isabelle), who--at the encouragement of her father (Richard Thomas)--queried the paper whether there was a Santa Claus.
